Collection Instructions

Specimen:CSF
Optimal Volume:0.5 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:0.3 mL
Container:Sterile tube (Plastic leakproof container, sterile)
Causes for Rejection:Sample not separated from cells and frozen within 2 hours of collection.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Within 2 hours, centrifuge and aliquot 0.5 mL, 0.25 mL minimum. Room temperature or refrigerated samples must arrive at Biochemical Genetics within 2 hours of collection (preferred). Alternately, store specimen in the freezer and ship on ice.
Shipping Instructions:Ship on dry ice.
