Collection Instructions

Optimal Volume:2-3 mL EDTA tube or 0.5 mL in an EDTA microtainer (do not fill more than 0.5 mL)
Minimum\Peds Volume:1 mL EDTA tube or 0.3 mL in an EDTA microtainer
Container:Purple (EDTA)
Collection Instructions:Immediately mix specimen 10 times by gentle inversion.
Causes for Rejection:Clotted specimen or platelet clumping.

Specimen Processing:Store in refrigerator. If more than 24 hours is required for transport, 2 unstained whole blood smears must accompany whole blood EDTA specimen.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature. Must arrive within 24 hours.
