Optimal Volume:2.7 mL (in 3 mL tube) - filled to fill line on the tube.
Minimum\Peds Volume:1.8 mL (in 2 mL tube) - filled to fill line on the tube.
Collection Instructions:Deliver to the laboratory within 3 hours. See link to Specimen Collection and Processing for Coagulation Specimens. Aliquot into 2 tubes.
Causes for Rejection:Underfilled tube or clotted specimens.

Interpretive

Reference Range:Less than 0.35 nmol/L
Use:Determines if a fragment of Prothrombin called F1.2 is present. This fragment is produced when the patient's coagulation system is activated.
