Test Performed at or Referral Lab | Chemistry (Fairview Range - FRMC, UMMC-East Bank) |
Interpretive
Reference Range: | No reference ranges have been established. This result should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical condition and compared to simultaneous measurement in the patient's blood. |
Use: | Bile leakage into the body cavity gives a very high fluid bilirubin concentration, many-fold higher than a patient's serum concentrations. Body fluid to serum bilirubin concentration ratios are generally less than 0.6 in transudates with the ratio in exudates being higher. |
