Test Includes:Evaluation of T lymphocytes and NK cells (percentages) by flow cytometric analysis of CD3, CD4, CD8, CD16/56 antigens on CD45 gated lymphoid cell population.
Turnaround Time:Specimens are accepted Mon-Thur, 24 hours, and Friday before 1600; results are reported within 24 hours.
Special Instructions:Provide diagnosis, age, collection date and time, specimen type, and product number.

This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview Clinical Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. FDA does not require this test to go through premarket FDA review. This test is used for clinical purposes and should not be regarded as investigational or for research. This laboratory is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) as qualified to perform high complexity clinical testing.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Blood, peripheral blood progrenitor cell collection processed bone marrow
Optimal Volume:3 mL blood; 1 mL peripheral blood progenitor cell collection; 10 x 10^6 processed bone marrow cells
Minimum\Peds Volume:2 mL blood; 0.5 mL peripheral blood progenitor cell collection
Collection Instructions:
Collect specimen aseptically:
  • Blood/Peripheral Blood Progenitor Cell Collection: Collect in purple (EDTA) tube. Mix well.
  • Processed Bone Marrow: Place cells in sterile container with support media (RPMI). Support media is available from the IFC laboratory.
Causes for Rejection:Clotted specimen, specimen received >48 hours after collection.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Do not centrifuge. Store in refrigerator. Contact IFC Laboratory prior to sending specimen.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at room temperature. Must arrive within 24 hours.

Reference Range:For blood refer to Immunodeficiency/Transplant Lymphocyte Immunophenotyping. No ranges are available for PBPC.
Use:Evaluation of T lymphocytes and NK cells (percentages) for purpose of donor lymphocytes dose calculation in peripheral blood stem cells (PBPC) products for transplantation.
