The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved or cleared this test; however, FDA clearance or approval is not currently required for clinical use. The results are not intended to be used as the sole means for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Blood, CSF, amniotic, or synovial fluid; bone marrow and paraffin embedded tissue
Optimal Volume:2 mL blood; 1 mL fluid
Minimum\Peds Volume:1.2 mL blood, 0.5 mL fluid
Container:Red (no gel) (Plastic leakproof container, sterile, Purple (EDTA), Red or gold (gel))
Causes for Rejection:Nonsterile or leaking containers. Heparinized samples. Tissue only in formalin or other preservative.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot 1 mL, 0.5 mL minimum serum or plasma. Do not process other specimen sources. Store bone marrow refrigerated and paraffin embedded tissue at room temperature. Store all other sample types frozen. Specimen source is required.
Shipping Instructions:Ship paraffin embedded tissue at room temperature; bone marrow refrigerated and all others frozen. Shared amniotic samples must go to Cytogenetics for separation.
Stability:Paraffin embedded tissue is stable at all temperatures indefinitely. Bone marrow is stable for 1 week at room temperature; refrigerated or frozen. All others are stable for 24 hours at room temperature, 5 days refrigerated; 6 months frozen.
