This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved or cleared this test; however, FDA clearance or approval is not currently required for clinical use. The results are not intended to be used as the sole means for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions.

Specimen:Blood or CSF
Optimal Volume:Blood: 2 mL; CSF: 1 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:Blood: 1.2 mL; CSF: 0.5 mL
Container:Red or gold (gel) (Sterile tube, Purple (EDTA), Red (no gel))
Causes for Rejection:Heparinized specimens.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Blood: Centrifuge and aliquot 1 mL, 0.5 mL minimum. CSF: Aliquot 1 mL, 0.5 mL minimum. Store frozen. Specimen source is required on aliquot tube.
Shipping Instructions:Ship on dry ice.
Stability:Stabilty is 8 hours at room temperature; 24 hours refrigerated; 3 months frozen.
