Optimal Volume:0.3 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:0.1 mL
Container:Plastic leakproof container, sterile
Causes for Rejection:Turbid specimens. Specimens other than pleural fluid.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot 0.3 mL, 0.1 mL minimum of supernatent.Store frozen.
Shipping Instructions:Ship on dry ice. Specimen must remain frozen until received by testing laboratory.
Stability:Stability: Room temperature - 2 hours; refrigerated - 1 week; frozen - 1 month.
