Use: | The quantitative RPR test is performed on patients with syphilis, a fourfold rise in titer in a repeat specimen may suggest infection, a reinfection, or a treatment failure. A fourfold decrease in the titer following treatment for early syphilis usually indicates that therapy was adequate. Unusually high RPR titers can be seen with concurrent human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection. Unusually high false-positive titers may also be seen in patients with lymphomas. |
