Interpretive

Reference Range:5-30 mcg/mL
Use:Acetoacetate is the principle compound in plasma, serum, or urine which causes a positive nitroprusside qualitative test for "ketones" or "acetone." Qualitative determination in plasma is only rarely required for work-up of metabolic disorders.
