Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Store in refrigerator.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature.
Stability:Unpreserved stool: 4 hours at room temperature; 7 days refrigerated.
Stool in Cary-Blair transport media: 24 hours at room temperature; 7 days refrigerated.

Interpretive

Reference Range:Culture negative for carbapenem-resistant organisms.
Use:Culture is for patients at risk of harboring organisms that are carbapenem non-susceptible and is intended as an aid in the detection, identification of colonization, and control of these bacteria in a healthcare setting. It is not intended to diagnose infection or to guide or monitor treatment for infections.
