Abbott i-Stat CG4 + Arterial - Point of Care Testing (POCT)

Sunquest Code:STAT4A
Epic Code:POC202Epic Name:ISTAT Gasses Lactate Art POCT
Methodology:Electrochemistry
Test Includes:Arterial pH, PCO2, PO2, TCO2, HCO3, BE, sO2, Lactate
Turnaround Time:Performed daily; results are available immediately.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Whole Blood
Optimal Volume:0.5 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:0.1 mL
Container:See Collection Instructions (Green (lithium heparin, gel), Dry heparin syringe)
Collection Instructions:For blood gases: Test immediately. If not testing immediately, re-mix sample by rolling syringe between palms for at least 5 seconds each in two different directions, then invert the syringe repeated for at least 5 seconds. Discard the first two drops of blood. For blood gas testing, avoid or remove immediately any air drawn into syringe to maintain anaerobic conditions.
