Collection Instructions

Optimal Volume:2 pieces of tissue 1 cm by 0.5 cm
Container:Container, Tissue, sterile
Collection Instructions:Wrap both pieces of fresh muscle in saline-moistened gauze (squeeze out excess) and place in a fresh specimen cup. Attach patient label to specimen cup. On label, document what muscle was excised and time sample was placed I container and attach to cup.

Shipping Instructions:Specimen must arrive at the U of MN Neuromuscular Lab within 1 hour of collection and before 2:00 pm. No exceptions. Transport specimen in a biohazard marked Styrofoam container containing wet ice. If using a courier: Call Neuromuscular Lab at least 24 hours before proposed procedure at 612-626-4703 or page 612-899-5510 BEFORE scheduling or shipping anything. This allows questions to be answered and ensures staff availability to accept the specimen. If unable to reach the lab, please page Dr. Karachunski at 612-899-7635.
