Interpretive

Therapeutic Range:30-100 ng/mL
Use:Vitamin D testing is not covered by government payers for screening. This test does not need to be ordered in combination with 1,25 Dihydroxy Vitamin D. This test measures the combined total of both 25-OH vitamin D3 and 25-OH vitamin D2 and reports the combined total. Recovery to 25-OH Vitamin D2 is only about 80%. If an individual is on Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) supplementation, order VITD23 by LCMSMS (LAB585).
This test is indicated for patients with chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, hypocalcemia, hypercalciuria, hypervitaminosis D, parathyroid disorders, malabsorption states, obstructive jaundice, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, osteosclerosis/petrosis, rickets and vitamin D deficiency on replacement therapy related to a condition listed previously, to monitor the efficacy of treatment.
