Interpretive
Reference Range: | No growth. |
Use: | Isolate and identify potentially pathogenic organisms. Normal ocular flora may include: Corynebacterium species (diphtheroids); coagulase negative Staphylococcus; Neisseria species; Moraxella species; nonhemolytic streptococci. Abnormal ocular flora includes: Haemophilus influenzae; Streptococcus pneumoniae; Staphyloccus aureus; Bacillus species; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Neisseria gonorrhoeae; some saprophytic fungi. |
