Collection Instructions

Specimen:Cultured amniocytes or fetal DNA.
Container:Special container available from laboratory
Collection Instructions:
  • Cultured amniocytes: Transfer cultured amniocytes to two T-25 flasks at 80% confluence. (Min: one T-25 flask at 80% confluence). Back-up cultures must be retained at  the client's institution until testing is complete.
  • DNA: Transport 50 microliters at 50 nanograms per microliter. (Min: 25 microliters at 50 nanograms per microliter.)


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Cultured amniocytes must be stored at room temperature. Separate specimens must be stored at room temperature. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Shipping Instructions:Ship cultured amniocytes at room temperature. Protect from temperature extremes. Ship DNA frozen.
Stability:
  • Cultured amniocytes: 48 hours at room temperature.
  • DNA: 2 weeks at room temperature; 1 month refrigerated; indefinitely frozen.
