Epic Code:LAB4187Epic Name:Methemoglobin
Methodology:Spectrophotometric analysis of hemolysate
CPT Code:83050
Turnaround Time:Performed and reported 24 hours/day.
Special Instructions:Sample is pH dependent. Methemoglobin may revert to hemoglobin on standing. Ideally, test is performed within 2 hours of collection; up to 10% decrease may occur after 4 hours, up to a 16% decrease after 8 hours.
