Interpretive

Reference Range:

Random collection: 0-19% fat

Timed Collection:

17 years or younger

Reference range not established

18 years and older

2-7 g fat/24 hours

Use:Total output of fat per 24 hours after a 3 day collection is a reliable test for steatorrhea. Test does not indicate the origin of the excessive fat excretion. Useful when qualitative fat test is borderline.
