Special Instructions:Add-ons to previous specimens are acceptable for 26 hours. (UMMC East - acceptable for up to 6 days).  Bilirubin is photosensitive and samples should be protected from both day light and fluorescent light to avoid photo-degradation.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot within 2 hours of collection 1.25 mL, 0.2 mL minimum. Store in refrigerator.

Stability:Roche: 1 day at room temperature; 7 days refrigerated; 6 months frozen.
Vista: 6 days refrigerated if protected from light; 3 months frozen.
