If the patient has or is suspected to have a lymphoid disorder, keep the specimen fresh and reference "Lymphoma workup surgical pathology tissue":
If there is no suspicion of a lymphoid disorder and no frozen section is requested, the specimen can be placed in formalin. Submit whole intact lymph node with capsule in sterile container; deliver to Surgical Pathology immediately. Discuss with the Surgical Pathology lab if a frozen section or lymphoma workup is requested (if a lymphoma work up is requested, please reference "Lymphoma workup surgical pathology tissue"). |

Specimen Processing: | Do not store fresh tissue. Store fixed tissue at room temperature. |
Shipping Instructions: | Ship fresh tissue soaked in sterile saline-soaked gauze at refrigerated temperature to arrive within 2 hours.
