Collection Instructions: | Freeze tissue in 2-methylbutane (isopentane) and liquid nitrogen. Do not allow specimen to thaw; keep frozen. Alternatively, preserve tissue with Michel's or Zeus fixative at room temperature. Deliver specimen to UMMC West Bank Pathology Lab, M351, 3rd floor East Bldg. Call laboratory at 612-273-4022, option 4 for instructions. |
Causes for Rejection: | Specimen in formalin or Zenker's fixative; improper freezing. |
Processing and Shipping
Specimen Processing: | Store frozen tissue on dry ice or -70C freezer. Store tissue preserved with Michel's or Zeus fixative at room temperature. |
Shipping Instructions: | Ship frozen tissue on dry ice. Ship Zeus or Michel's fixed tissue at room temperature. Must arrive within 24 hours. Ship overnight express Mon-Thurs only. Do not ship on Fridays. |
