Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot within 2 hours of collection 1 mL, 0.5 mL minimum. Store in refrigerator.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature.
Stability:After separation from cells: Samples are stable for 5 days at room temperature; 2 weeks refrigerated and 3 months frozen.

Reference Range:0-37 U/mL
Use:The Roche Modular E170 CA 125 electrochemiluminescent assay is used. Results obtained with different assay methods or kits cannot be used interchangeably. CA 19-9 is useful in monitoring pancreatic, hepatobiliary, gastric, hepatocellular, and colorectal cancer. The CA 19-9 assay value, regardless of level, should not be interpreted as absolute evidence of the presence or absence of malignant disease.
