Processing and Shipping
Specimen Processing: | Centrifuge the specimen at 1700 x g for 15 minutes (or at a speed and time required to consistently produce platelet-poor plasma - platelet count less than 10,000/uL). Aliquot within 4 hours of collection 1 mL; 0.5 mL minimum of platelet-poor plasma. Store in freezer. |

Use: | Alpha-2 Antiplasmin is a specific inhibitor of Plasmin. A deficiency may result in a bleeding tendency. Homozygous deficiency may cause severe bleeding. Elevated levels may cause thrombosis. |
