Interpretive

Reference Range:Interpretive report by Coagulation Laboratory physician.
Use:To differentiate von Willebrand subtypes 2A from 2B. Type 2A aggregates with only normal or high concentrations of Ristocetin (normal to HYPOresponsive). Type 2B aggregates with even low concentrations of Ristocetin (HYPERresponsive). Type 2B patients should not be treated with DDAVP. They may have a severe drop in their platelet count. This test is also part of a Platelet Aggregation workup.
