Collection Instructions:Trough level is preferred; collect immediately before dose, but no sooner than 2 hours before. Optimal collection time for peak level is 1-2 hours after oral dose. Optimal collection time for I.V. dose: immediately after loading dose and 2 hours, 6-12 hours, and 24 hours after maintenance infusion. Optimal sampling for oral dose: three steady-state samples over one oral dosing interval (i.e., immediately prior to dose and two more samples at equally spaced intervals).
Causes for Rejection:Gel-barrier tube; severely hemolyzed, lipemic or icteric specimen.
