Patient Preparation:Patients should abstain from ascorbic acid supplements for a minimum for 24 hours prior to sample collection. High levels of ascorbic acid interfere with the assay.
Causes for Rejection:Hemolyzed.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot 0.5 mL, 0.3 mL minimum. Samples are stable refrigerated for 2 weeks.

Interpretive

Reference Range:Non-diabetic: 205-285 umol/L; variations in levels of serum proteins (albumin and immunoglobulins) may affect fructosamine results.
