Special Instructions:Provide clinical history and specify amino acid(s) desired on request form. If >10% of volume lost during 24 hour collection, test will be reported as a random collection.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Urine, 24 hour collection preferred
Optimal Volume:Submit entire collection; analysis requires 1 mL minimum
Container:3 L plastic jug


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Mix collection well before aliquot is taken. Aliquot 5 mL, 1 mL minimum. Record total volume and duration. Room temperature or refrigerated samples must arrive at Biochemical Genetics within 2 hours of collection (preferred). Alternately, store specimen in the freezer and ship on ice.
Shipping Instructions:Ship on dry ice.
