8 hours of fasting is recommended before collection. Place in hot pack and deliver to laboratory immediately.

Causes for Rejection: |
Not maintained at 37°C prior to processing; gross hemolysis; sample has been frozen; less than 3 mL of serum received; collected in a gel tube.

Processing and Shipping
Specimen Processing: |
Incubate at 37°C for 1 hour. Centrifuge at 37°C if possible. Transfer to a 15 mL conical centrifuge tube and centrifuge again at 37°C if possible to remove unseen RBC's. Aliquot 6 mL, 3 mL minimum, into a second 15 mL conical tube. Store in refrigerator.
