Special Instructions:NTD Laboratory's requisition for Modified Sequential Screening is required. The requisition must be completely filled out by the clinic. This includes items numbered 1-16 (except for number 5-billing), physician name, physician code as well as patient signature and date. Specimen is to be collected using the NTD collection box. This box contains 3 plastic screw top tubes with a 7.5 mL gel vacutainer in each. You will only need to collect one of the gel vacutainer tubes.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and place in screw top contained provided in kit.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at room temperature for overnight delivery.
Stability:Place plastic container including the tube into the enclosed biohazard bag. Leave the empty containers and vacutainer tubes in the box to be sent back to the company. Then place all 3 containers in the NTD box along with the requisition. You can send more than one patient per box. Place box in the provided FedEx envelope. Multiple boxes can be sent in one envelope.

Use:The Modified Sequential Screen may be used in conjunction with the results of a First Trimester Screen to further define a woman's risk of having a fetus with chromosomal abnormalities of Down syndrome, Trisomy18, and Trisomy13. It is generally performed at 16 weeks. It may be requested by the patient's physician or a genetic counselor. It must be performed by the same site where the First Trimester Screen was performed.
