Test Includes:Selected patient sera are crossmatched against allogeneic and autologous T and B lymphocytes.
Turnaround Time:Results are reported within 5 days.
Special Instructions:Deliver directly to Immunology Laboratory (7-139 PWB) immediately after collection. If this test is being added on, comment ADD-ON in the Comment field when placing a normal order in Epic.

Collection Instructions

Optimal Volume:14 mL red (plain) tube AND 20 mL Yellow (ACD, Solution A or ACD, Solution B) tube
Minimum\Peds Volume:3 mL red (plain) tube AND 10 mL Yellow (ACD, Solution A or ACD, Solution B) tube
Container:Red (no gel), Yellow (ACD, Solution A) tube available from laboratory
Alternate Containers: Red (gel), Yellow (ACD, Solution B) tube available from laboratory
Collection Instructions:Collect specimen prior to dialysis. Inform lab if patient is receiving Rituxamib.
Causes for Rejection:ACD: Clotted specimen.
Red: Gross hemolysis, immunosuppression, drug interference
Contraindications:Serum will not clot (if collected during or immediately after dialysis).

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Store at room temperature.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at room temperature. Testing must be performed within 3 days of collection. Do not send routine testing on Friday.

Use:Determine presence or absence in potential recipient's serum of HLA antibody reactive with potential donor's cells which may result in hyperacute rejection of a transplant.
