Optimal Volume:1 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:0.5 mL (3 mL syringe); 0.2 mL (tuberculin syringe); 0.1 mL (capillary tube)
Container:Capillary (lithium heparin) gas tube
Collection Instructions:Refer to blood gas with saturation for collection information.
Causes for Rejection:Specimen with air bubbles or clots; gross lipemia; presence of >1% sulfhemoglobin; specimen not received within 2 hours.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Do not store.
Shipping Instructions:Ship on wet ice to arrive within 2 hours.
Stability:All samples at room temperature must be analyzed within 30 minutes of collection. If unable to analyze within 30 minutes, store on ice for up to 2 hours.
