Optimal Volume: | 20 mL |
Minimum\Peds Volume: | 10 mL |
Container: | Sterile tube |
Collection Instructions: | Collect amniotic fluid during 14-16 week gestation; maintain sterility during collection. Transport to laboratory as soon as possible. Use sterile technique. |
Processing and Shipping
Specimen Processing: | Store at room temperature.
Specimens must be received in the Cytogenetics laboratory Monday-Friday, weekends and holidays by 4:30 pm. Specimens received after these cutoffs will be processed the following day. |
Shipping Instructions: | Ship at room temperature as soon as possible. |
Stability: | For optimal testing results the specimen must arrive within 24 hours. |
