Monomeric Prolactin

Age

Male, ng/mL

Female, ng/mL

1-9 y

2.1-13.3

2.1-13.3

10 y and older

2.1-13.3

2.8-19.5

Monomeric Prolactin Percent: Greater than 50%

If the % Monomeric Prolactin is 40-50%, then the result is indeterminate for macroprolactin. If the % Monomeric Prolactin is less than 40%, then this indicates the present of macroprolactin. A Monomeric Prolactin result above the upper reference limit is consistent with hyperprolactinemia.

Reference ranges for patients under one year of age are not provided by the reference laboratory.
