Collection Instructions

Specimen:Blood
Optimal Volume:10-20 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:8.5 mL
Container:Green (sodium heparin, no gel)
Collection Instructions:Specimens must be collected after 10:00 am on Wednesday and received in East Bank Core Lab by 1400. Do not collect the Wednesday before a holiday.
Patient Preparation:Patients should not be on immunosuppressive medications such as steroids or calcineurin inhibitors.
Causes for Rejection:Specimens greater than 24 hours old. Refrigerated, frozen, hemolyzed, clotted or centrifuged specimens. Specimens in the wrong anticoagulant.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Whole blood. Do not process.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at room temperature. Sample must be less than 24 hours old and arrive in the testing laboratory no later than 11:00 am on Thursday. Call CBDI DIL at 513-636-4685 with courier and sample tracking number.
