Collection Instructions

Specimen:Whole blood
Optimal Volume:4 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:2 mL
Container:Gray (sodium fluoride + potassium oxalate)
Collection Instructions:Tubes should be filled to prevent loss of volatile compound into headspace. Alcohol swab for disinfection must NOT be used. Collection site should be prepped with alternate disinfectant prior to collection.
Contraindications:Not in NaF/oxalate tube.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Do not process. Whole blood. Store in refrigerator.
Shipping Instructions:Ship refrigerated.
Stability:8 hours at room temperature; 48 hours refrigerated; 1 month frozen.
