Collection Instructions: | Place swab or aspirate/wash in universal transport media (UTM) or other Chlamydia transport media immediately. |
Causes for Rejection: | Urine, samples not collected in Chlamydia culture transport media. Dry swabs, wood swabs and calcium alginate swabs. |

Specimen Processing: | Sample is stable refrigerated for 48 hours; frozen at -70oC for 1 month; frozen at -20oC is unacceptable. |

Interpretive
Reference Range: | Culture negative for Chlamydia trachomatis. |
Use: | Not recommended for routine detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT). Use to detect CT in medicolegal settings and to assess suspected treatment failure. May be considered for anatomic locations for which amplified testing has not been validated. |
