Processing and Shipping
Specimen Processing: | Centrifuge whole blood within 2 hours of collection and discard plasma. Leave 2 mL, 0.6 minimum, RBC's in the original container and replace stopper. Store at room temperature or refrigerated. Alternatively transfer 2 mL RBCs itno an ARUP Trace Element-Free Transport Tube. |
Shipping Instructions: | Ship RBC's at room temperature or refrigerated. |
Stability: | After separation from plasma: 2 weeks at room temperature or refrigerated; unacceptable frozen. |
