Causes for Rejection:Hemolysis.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge and aliquot within 2 hours of collection 1.25 mL, 0.2 mL minimum. Store in refrigerator.
Note: AST can be falsely elevated if the platelet layer on top of the gel is disturbed. Re-centrifuge pre-processed tube received from an outside source, or if the tube is dropped.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature.
Stability:7 days refrigerated; 3 months frozen
