Interpretive
Reference Range: | No reference ranges have been established. This result should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical condition and compared to simultaneous measurement in the patient's blood. Pleural fluid/serum LD ratios: A ratio of greater than 0.6 indicates an exudate, a ratio less than 0.6 indicates a transudate. A pleural fluid LD more than two-thirds the normal upper limit for serum is indicative of an exudate. Any effusion with a high cell count or cell debris will have a high LD ratio. |
