Collection Instructions: | Patient specimen and two well-made peripheral blood smears from the patient sample (Wright stained or fixed in absolute methanol) are required for testing. Also required is a control from an unrelated, nonsmoking individual collected at the same time. Immediately refrigerate specimen after draw. Label control tube on outermost label as "normal control". |
Causes for Rejection: | Hemolysis. Clotted from frozen specimens. Specimens sent without a normal control or peripheral blood smears. |
