Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection and aliquot 1 mL, 0.5 mL minimum.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated or frozen temperature.
Stability:3 days at room temperature; 7 days refrigerated. Freeze aliquot sample if stored for more than 7 days.

Assay does not differentiate between vaccines and natural infections.


For diagnostic purposes, results should be used in conjunction with patient history and other hepatitis markers for diagnosis of acute and chronic infection. A non-reactive test result does not exclude the possibility of exposure to hepatitis B virus.


A reactive result does not exclude co-infection by another hepatitis virus.
