Specimen must arrive within 96 hours of draw to be stabilized. Draw specimen Monday through Thursday only and not the day before a holiday. Specimen should be drawn and packaged as close to shipping time as possible.

Causes for Rejection:Gross hemolysis; samples older than 6 days.

Specimen Processing:Do not process. Store in refrigerator. Do not freeze.
Shipping Instructions:Ship in original container at refrigerated temperature to arrive within 96 hours of collection.
Stability:6 days at room temperature; 6 days refrigerated.

Interpretive

Reference Range:3.53 or greater nmol/hour/mg protein.
An interpretive report will be provided.
Results from this assay do not reflect carrier status because of individual variation of beta-glucosidase enzyme levels.
Limitations:Enzyme levels may be normal in individuals receiving enzyme replacement therapy.
Use:Diagnosis of Gaucher disease.
