Collection Instructions

Specimen:Swab, aspirate or discharge
Container:CoPan ESwab with larger swab, Culturette swab (CoPan ESwab with smaller swab)
Collection Instructions:UMMC, FRH, FSH, FLMC, FNH: Use CoPan ESwab FRMC: Use culturette swab Collect urethral exudate with a swab. If exudate is not present, a flexible wire may be inserted into the urethra or the anterior mucosa may be scraped with a sterile implement.

Reference Range:No growth to normal urogenital flora.
Use:Isolate common genitourinary pathogens from patients with urethritis. PCR based assay is optimum for diagnosis for G.C. urethritis in males.
