Test Includes:
This order should only be used for fixed tissue testing of genes not available as a panel. Please reference the Beaker NGS Oncology Panel Gene List for the most up to date list of available panels and the genes contained within.
Turnaround Time:Performed Mon-Fri; results are reported within 10-14 days
Special Instructions:Order testing in EPIC as panels or use the individual gene order and select requested genes. Fixed samples: Include block number for testing.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Fixed tissue, fresh tissue
Optimal Volume:Fixed tissue: 5 unstained slides (10 microns thick), 1 H&E (10 microns thick). Fresh tissue: 5 mm x 5 mm x 5 mm.
Minimum\Peds Volume:Fixed tissue: 4 unstained slides (10 microns thick), 1 H&E (10 microns thick). Fresh tissue: 3 mm x 3 mm x 3 mm.
Container:Fixed Formalin Block

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Do not process. Store at room temperature.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Test Performed at or Referral Lab UM Molecular Diagnostics (M)  (UMMC East Bank)

Interpretive

Reference Range:See interpretive report.
Use:This assay detects fusions seen in lung cancer, infantile fibrosarcoma, and other solid tumors to identify actionable mutations that help guide targeted therapy.
