Turnaround Time:Specimens are sent to reference laboratory Mon-Thur; results are reported within 15 days
Special Instructions:STAT processing required. Sample must be in Zamboni fixative within 4 hours and arrive in performing lab within 24 hours. Place tissues directly into Zamboni fixative (available from Kennedy Lab 612-625-1431) immediately upon excision and send to UMMC-East Core Lab for delivery to the Kennedy Laboratory, J-119 Diehl Hall.

Container:Zamboni Fixative Vial
Collection Instructions:Place tissues directly into Zamboni fixative-containing vial immediately upon excision. Place vial with specimen in stryrofoam container with an ice pack.
Causes for Rejection:Damaged tissue, frozen tissue, tissue not in fixative.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:STAT processing required. See Special Instructions.
UMMC East Bank Core: Check in sample and call Kennedy for pick up ASAP. Log sample on the Pass-Thru Log and store refrigerated in the Pass-Thru bucket. Keep refrigerated; do not freeze.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperatures. Do not freeze.
