Causes for Rejection:Plasma, heat inactivated, severely lipemic, contaminated or hemolyzed specimens.


Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Within 2 hours of collection, centrifuge and aliquot 1 mL, 0.4 mL minimum. Store in refrigerator.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature.
Stability:After separation from cells: 48 hours at room temperature; 2 weeks refrigerated; 1 year frozen.

≥ 1:16 – IgM antibody detected, which may suggest current or recent infection

St. Louis Encephalitis Antibody, IgG

< 1:16 – No antibody detected

≥ 1:16 – IgM antibody detected, which may suggest current or recent infection

Western Equine Encephalitis Antibody, IgG

< 1:16 – No antibody detected

≥ 1:16 – IgM antibody detected, which may suggest current or recent infection

Eastern Equine Encephalitis Antibody, IgG

< 1:16 – No antibody detected

≥ 1:16 – IgM antibody detected, which may suggest current or recent infection

West Nile Virus Antibody, IgG by ELISA, Serum

0.89 IV or less – Negative. No significant level of West Nile Virus IgM Antibody detected.

0.90-1.10 IV – Equivocal. Questionable presence of West Nile Virus IgM Antibody detected. Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful

1.11 IV or greater – Positive. Presence of West Nile Virus IgM Antibody detected, suggestive or current or past infection
