Collection Instructions: | Collect using CoPan ESwab. Depress tongue and rub swab vigorously over each tonsillar area and posterior pharynx. Any exudate should be touched, and care should be taken to avoid tongue and uvula.
ESwab: Once throat has been swabbed, return ESwab to transport container. Break collection swab at molded breakpoint in the shaft and place screw cap on container. If sending via PTS, the specimen must be placed in a lab specimen bag with an absorbent pad and then placed into another lab specimen bag. |
Causes for Rejection: | Sources other than throat are not acceptable for this method. Specimen not collected using ESwab collection device will be rejected. |
