Specimen:Whole Blood
Optimal Volume:0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:For blood gases: Test immediately. Must be tested within 10 minutes of collection. Avoid or remove immediately any air drawn into syringe to maintain anaerobic conditions, If not testing immediately, re-mix sample by rolling syringe between palms for at least 5 seconds each in two different directions, then invert the syringe repeatedly for at least 5 seconds. Discard the first two drops of blood.
Causes for Rejection:Specimen not tested within 10 minutes of collection.
