Collection Instructions:Fresh whole blood collected in a plain non-anticoagulated syringe. Alternatively fresh capillary whole blood (first drop).
Causes for Rejection:Clotted specimen
Contraindications:Must be tested immediately to avoid sample clotting. INR by I-Stat method is only recommended to monitor anticoagulant therapy. It should not be used on patients with factor deficiencies or any other coagulopathies.

Interpretive

Critical Range:INR:  Greater than 5.0
Therapeutic Range:INR: 0.9-1.2
Use:Monitor oral anticoagulant therapy at the patient's bedside.
