Turnaround Time:Specimens are sent to the reference laboratory Mon-Fri.
Special Instructions:Collect using a CXBladder Detect White Kit available from the lab. A completed specimen requisition and insurance information form must be sent with each sample. Smoking and hematuria history must be completed and requisition signed by the provider.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Midstream urine
Optimal Volume:4.5 mL
Container:CX Bladder Kit
Collection Instructions:Collect only midstream voided samples collected in sterile collection cup provided in kit. Check expiration date on kit prior to collection; do not use if any component has expired. Do not collect within 2 weeks of UTI and 6 weeks of invasive manipulation or chemotherapy treatments.
  • Invert the urine collection cup several times and transfer urine sample within one hour to CXbladder tube.
  • Place CXbladder urine collection cup on a flat, hard surface. Push the Cxbladder tube onto the rubber-covered needle and hold in position until the flow stops at fill line on tube.
  • Remove tube and invert several times. Do not open the tube.
  • Hand-label tube with patient's name, date of birth, and date of collection. Store at room temperature.
Causes for Rejection:Bladder wash/barbotage specimens, underfilled Cxbladder transfer tube, Cxbladder Detect/Triage requisition not completely filled out.

Reference Range:By report.
Use:Primary detection rule out test for low or high-risk patient's bladder cancer in patients presenting with hematuria, atypical or discrepant results or renal insufficiency.
